Consolation or Desperation

He put his head in his hands and closed his browser. He’d decided to try his hand at online dating, but it was a dismal failure. He’d logged on every day for two weeks, updated his portfolio to make himself more interesting than he really was, but to no avail. It was a failed experiment, and he was more miserable than ever.

He levered himself off of the chair and shuffled from the room. He took a swig from the mug on the counter and stared unseeing at the contents of his fridge. He shut the door in disgust, and jumped at the text message alert on his phone.

Was going to message you online, but you logged out before I got the chance.

He scratched his head for a moment. He didn’t remember, putting his number up on the website, but he didn’t remember much of the setup in his excitement to get started.

He shocked himself by smiling as his fingers flew across the keyboard. His hesitance was all but gone as the conversation increased in heat and intensity.

Before he knew it they’d made plans to meet up. Two weeks flew by, and he was eager to finally meet such an enticing  woman.

He dressed in his very best, acted the perfect gentleman, and was rewarded with even more captivating and intriguing discourse with the most beautiful woman he’d ever laid his eyes on. The pictures she’d sent did not do her proper justice.

He wondered how he’d gotten so lucky.

Midway through dinner his head began to feel light. He’d tried to keep his inebriation light, but clearly he’d miscalculated somehow.

He ordered a water, but the fogginess lingered. He refused to let this dampen the mood.

He was floating by the time dinner finished, but his heart was hammering with excitement. An electric shock coursed through his body when she took his hand.

He was enchanted. Where she led, he would follow.

She kissed him greedily in the darkness and laughed in triumph. Power sated her immense hunger, and she now had the most loyal servant she could ask for.

It was a very good night.
