Spook-tober: Day 13

An Attack

The fourth body showed up on a quiet Sunday morning, and for Detective Irene, it was just as baffling and mysterious as the first three. Her heart dropped when all the signs were there, but there was nothing to link them beside the modus operandi.

Still, she was determined to solve these crimes before more bodies piled up, and the fear was too much for the already terrified community to bear.

She stood with her hands on her hips in front of the filling murder board–willing the silent pictures to speak to her. There had to be a connection somewhere, and she had to dig deeper to find it.

The women were all middle-aged, bloodless, and staged to appear like they were sleeping. Since, the bodies were placed where no one would bother sleeping–it was clear it was intentional. But why? What was the purpose?

Detective Irine was angry and frustrated. No human she’d seen could do what the killer had done, but the creatures from her nightmares didn’t actually exist, and humans were capable of some heinous things.

She’d been up all night trying to unearth a lead, and she went back to her office to think things through. She must have dozed off in the process.

Dark eyes swam in her vision.

“Come to me,” he said. “I have been preparing for you.”

She floated through her dream and came to a park. He opened his arms to her…

A scream peirced the silence.

They found her in the far end of the park. She was lead detective on the case, but now she was victim number five.

No one was safe if she’d been taken. Panic exploded throughout the city and the hunt was on no matter the cost. The killer needed to be stopped.
