Some Sort of Chaos

The world is turning,
Time is churning
Everything’s whirling around.
The days are spinning
And life’s beginning;
At the same time it’s running down.
My head aches,
Hit the brakes!
There’s so much I still need to do.
Fall and rise,
Life’s big surprise
Is how fast old again becomes new.
Crazy thinking,
Social drinking,
Happiness can’t be bought.
Yet people try
Before they die
To live a life of some report.
Eating, smiling,
Pleasure’s beguiling;
But all too soon it ends.
Death and despair
Are a miserable pair,
But make the most loyal of friends.
Voices ringing,
People singing,
Happiness is all around.
But when it goes –
As well we know –
We’re returned back to the ground.
Tears and crying,
People are dying,
But the rest of us live on.
Life can be cruel,
A filthy cesspool
Which we pin our dreams upon.
But reality’s truth
Is a sharpened tooth
That cuts our flesh, and deep.
We live, we die,
We laugh, we cry,
And then fall to eternal sleep.
