Spook-tober: Day 29

Shadows and Spirits

None of his friend’s had any notion of what he’d done–to the heights he’d soared. He’d done the impossible, and he was beyond pleased. There were so many things he wanted to accomplish.

She stood in the corner waiting for his every command. He’d summoned her, and she was under his control. The best part of it was that nothing could be tied back to him–he was untouchable.

Take revenge on those that wronged me and set me on the wrong path in life.

She gave a curt nod and vanished from the room. He was so wrapped up in his own success that he didn’t see the sly smile that played across her lips.

He was blissfully unaware of what was going on around him. With his ethereal servant, no one would be able to stand in his way. Everything he ever wanted would he his.

He leaned against the wall and looked up with delight as his servant returned to the room with a woosh of fridgid air.

“Were you successful?” he asked getting to his feet and rushing toward her.

Her eyes flashed with a veiled threat. “Nearly,” she said. “One last person remains and your request will be complete.”

“Well get to it, then,” he said. “Why did you come back before you were done?”

“With pleasure,” she said.

She pulled out a knife and advanced on him.

He screamed and scrambled backwards against the wall.

“No, not me…” he said. “I said those that wronged ME!”

“You should have chosen your words more carefully,” she said. “You are the master of your own fate, or did you forget about that?”

She appeared behind him and drew the knife across his throat. She dropped his body to bleed out onto the floor and walked away.
This was the fastest those who had summoned her made such a deadly mistake.

Humans certainly were getting more foolish, and she was definitely faster.
