Danger Coming to Pass

She hadn’t seen the signs before it was too late, and now she was fleeing for her–how did she let everything come this far? How had she been so naive?

She didn’t suffer at the hands of an abusive partner or make questional financial decisions, and yet she was fighting to stay alive and one step ahead of those that persued her.

The worst part of all of this was the fact that this stemmed from someone she trusted–someone who was family. They allowed their own poor choices to influence how they treated others, and she’d been caught up in all of it.

She couldn’t go home, but she wasn’t worried about that–more the people she was forced to leave behind. She loved them dearly, and she worried about what her loss would do to them.

As soon as that realization entered her mind she made a choice–she was going to stop running.

She was going to end this, and she was going to end it now!

The black car that never left her tail pulled up beside her and they both stepped out.

“You only know what you’ve been told about me,” she said. “You can take me wherever you wish, but it won’t break me. I did no wrong, and you will pay for what you have been ordered to do.”

The other driver said nothing and roughly shoved her into the backseat and slammed the door–eager to be free of prying eyes and law enforcement.

She didn’t know how much time she had left, but she would do everything she could to survive.

She would go home.
