A cold voice echoes through the empty bays. System register, arrival at destination point one. Starting Cryogenic Restoration. Subjects Alpha and Beta.
As the echoing fades a new sound of gasses hissing from release valves and latches snapping open. This signals the awakening of Alpha and Beta.
Alpha slowly steps from the Cryotube, her athletic body strained with the long sleep, but it was expected from the training she had been given.
She glanced at the tube next to hers.
Beta lay motionless for several minutes before he started to move from his long rest. “Alpha, get up. It seems like we’ve been called by the system.”
“I am up, Beta, and getting dressed. You’re the one laying there. You get up, system is calling,” she said and opened up her locker.
Beta pulls himself out pods and stands to stretch. He then stops to watch Alpha as she steps into her sharkskin bodysuit. “You know I am glad they paired us for this mission, and I’m not just talking about your beauty. That is a given. Your mental and physical strength is something I can depend on.”
She rolled her eyes. “We are not getting into that right now. Get yourself dressed. We need to check and see if we’ve reached the 70,000 light year marker.”
