A Fortnight of Lust: Day 9

Lonely Hearts

By Dominick May

The patient lay in a deep slumber as the doctor started the procedure. It wasn’t difficult for him as he had cleared plaque from many patients’ hearts before.

You think he would be happy doing such a good job, but his own heart hurt. When the work was done, the only thing he could look forward to was an empty house.

If he had any skills dealing with people who were awake. Then at least he would have a friend, but no. He opens his mouth and the worst thing come out.

It was raining once he finished. Popping open the umbrella that he had brought. He stepped out into the gray city. With the foot falls of the people rushing about, he almost missed the small sound of desperation coming from the alley.

Moving into the alley, there she was. Small, with deep brown eyes. She looked up to him, cold and drenched from the rain. Slowly moving to her, he was gentle not to scare her. There was no need as she didn’t move and let him pick her up.

Carrying her home, he grabbed a towel and dried her off. Her fur was long and soft. For being an alley cat she seemed to be vary docile, and half starved. Feeding her some tuna, he sat down in his recliner to let her explore the house.

She did one circle in the room then hopped into his lap. Curled up and immediately fell asleep. ” I will call you she.” Closing his own eyes. He also fell asleep.
