A Fortnight of Lust: Day 10

Diamonds are Forever

He clutched the small velvet box tightly in his pocket. He’d scrimped and saved to even be able to afford the small stone in the simple setting. He knew it wasn’t much, but the love overflowing from his heart would be enough to make it grow two sizes.

His steps were light and the sun finally peeked from behind the clouds. He knew they’d be waiting for him in the park. His heart thudded with nervous anticipation, but he wouldn’t keep them waiting, because he was too eager to share his exitement and joy.

He longed to hold those hands, so he gripped them as soon as he possibly could. He dropped to his knees, pulled out the small box, and opened it.

He’d planned the most heartfelt and moving of speeches, but his emotions refused to allow him to speak properly. So all he could manage was something about being part of their forever. It was far from eloquent, but the effect was the same.

The answer was yes.

He truly would never have to let that hand go again.
