Spook-tober 2024

Day 10

I willed my body to move, and was only served more pain for my trouble.

I was angry now! Panic fled from my core, and the rats scurried away as my heels slammed  into creaking wooden floor boards.

“Why are you keeping me here?” I screamed. “No one is going to believe a word of this!”

There was a deep chuckle off to my left.

I strained to see into the darkness, but my eye lids remained glued shut by some unknown force.

The slightest purple tinge around the edges of the blackness gave me some clue to the real cause.

“We need you alive, so you will stay until you are no longer a threat to your own safety,” the voice said.

I pounded my fists against the floor.

“Speak plainly!” I said. “Not everything has to be cryptic or a riddle.”

“You mock a time honored tradition,” it said. “I made a mistake reviving you so soon. I’m done with you.”

I screamed in frustration as unconscious enveloped me once more.
